Well-Spring, the Grand Rapids resiliency center is a green build resiliency project that aims to show how multi-use building construction can have a positive impact on the carbon footprint of design as well as fostering a sense of community and culture in an area. Visitors will be able to observe efficient green build technology encouraging education on developmental waste hazards while supporting their local small businesses that occupy the ground floor. The second floor serves as an extended stay hotel for members of the community who have endured loss from the recurring flooding issue in this area, as well as others in need of temporary housing. The roof of the structure will support a communal garden where the ground floor restaurants can supply themselves with local herbs and veggies as well as a general communal space of relaxation, recreation, and refuge.
THREE BASIC ELEMENTS OF A
RAINWATER HARVESTING SYSTEM:
          - Collection Area
            - Conveyance System
            - Storage Facilities

Conveyance systems consists of gutters or pipes that deliver rainwater falling on the roof to the storage vessel. Both drainpipes and roof surfaces are constructed of chemically inert materials in order to avoid adverse effects on water quality.
The White Oak is native to the region and resistant to moisture and decay and can be used without preservative treatment within its local climate.
The Copper pipes are extremely durable, remain tightly fitted, have a long life span, recyclable, resistant to heat, and won’t pollute your water.
